Derivan joined this important cause by donating paint supplies to the Smith Family painting stand and for the children to enjoy themselves creating and colouring.... and what was left after the activities were over, was kindly donated to Playgroups Qld.

Print Workshop at Hazelhurst with Pamela Griffith.
Added November 2011
The class at Hazelhurst went well with the thirteen primary school children of various stages. There was the curator, Kate Milner assisting and Ross Griffith on the press patrol. While another teacher looked in to learn about collagraphs. The children rolled up pre made assorted shapes from board that had been sealed with shellac. Wooden chopsticks were used to draw into the Derivan ink. We also used bevelled edged bits of framing cardboard to take out larger areas of ink creating white areas on the core board that we used as our base. I also found it useful to add the silk screen ink when doing mono prints as it made the paint workable and it printed well. The children rolled up core board and scratched back into the ink then transferred it by using the press. The first prints we made were hand pressure on the back of the paper so presses sometimes were not all together needed.
