It is designed as a drama and theatre paint which can also be used for fetes, fairs, children's parties and wherever face and/or body painting is required.

New Safety Standard EN71-3
When you are transforming your child into a fairy, a tiger a zombie or a pirate, some of the considerations you may want is a product that is easy to apply, has good colour and coverage. However, you should also carefully consider and be concerned with the things that you can’t see. What exactly is in the product? Is it safe to use on sensitive young skin?
As of July 2013 a new global standard for face paint safety, called the EN71-3, was introduced via the Toys Safety Directive. Basically, this standard and testing ensures that the level of toxic materials used in the manufacture of these are limited to safe levels in a range of products sold for children including face paints.
So, what is the difference to previous standards, how does it affect previous standards?
Harmful ingredients have long been regulated in paint for children’s products, but these new regulations now require even lower levels and extend to more than just paint and toys. The new EN71-3 standard is in addition to previous cosmetic standards enforced in Australia and internationally for any product used on skin.

Using a clean palette knife or other utensil, remove as much paint from the container as necessary for the session and replace lid. Do not return unused paint to the container. Place on a palette or other clean non-porous surface. Mix the required secondary or tertiary colours on this palette. Apply the colours as thinly as possible to avoid cracking - if more coverage is required apply subsequent thin coats. Apply your base colour first using a damp (not wet) sponge. You can apply a second coat when the first is dry if you desire a stronger colour. You can even load up the sponge with more than one colour, then apply with a dabbing motion across the face for a colour gradient effect. Use the brush for detail work; bold continuous strokes work best. It is strongly advisable, if painting more than one face, to use a disposable applicator such as cotton wool and discard after each person - be careful not to re-immerse the applicator in the paint.
Clean UpAvoid letting paint dry on your brushes and utensils: keep them wet while working. Brushes, utensils, and hands can then be washed with soap and water. |
AllergiesAlthough Derivan Face & Body Paint has been specially formulated for use on the skin, it is not recommended for persons with sensitive skin or skin conditions. If in doubt, apply a small amount to the inside of the wrist and leave for one hour. Do not apply to open wounds. Avoid contact with eyes, nasal passages, mouth or other orifices as abrasive irritation may occur. Removal of Paint StainsWhen working with paint it's always a good idea to use old clothing. However, Derivan Face & Body Paint is formulated so that it will swell up and release when submerged in soapy water. With the thumb and forefinger of each hand slowly work the stain in a rolling action thereby releasing the paint and colour into the soapy water. Change the water as necessary and repeat washing action. Do not use hot water. Some stubborn stains may need to be soaked overnight. Other methods of cleaning will generally only act to drive the stain in deeper. Don't attempt to boil, dry-clean or use chemical solvents or thinners on the stain. Keep stained garments separate from other washing.
